Product Details

Colic in the general horse population has been estimated at 11% annually. Symptoms of colic in horses include abdominal pain, cramps, frequent attempts to urinate, biting or nipping at the stomach area, pacing, pawing and/or scraping, repeated lying down and rising, rolling, teeth grinding, excess salivation and loss of appetite. The most common causes of colic are gastrointestinal in nature and subside with appropriate treatment; however some causes of colic can prove fatal without surgical intervention.

It was once thought that feeding a horse after exercise (and not before) may lessen the risk of colic. However, recent research suggests that it may be beneficial to horses if they are fed a small amount before exercise. Turnout is also thought to reduce the likelihood of colic and it is recommended that a horse receive up to 18 hours of grazing time each day. Feeding a horse restricted carbohydrates, making sure feed and drinking water is clean and preventing the ingestion of dirt or sand by using an elevated feeding surface can all serve to lessen the risk of colic. Horses should stick to a regular feeding schedule and undergo regular de-worming and dental checkups. A regular diet that does not change substantially in content (or proportion) and the prevention of heatstroke can also serve to promote easy digestion and gastrointestinal harmony.

EQuine Colic Calm is an FDA-registered natural remedy containing 100% homeopathic ingredients known for their ability to provide short-term relief of symptoms of acute colic in horses. Taken internally, the ingredients in EQuine Colic Calm address acute symptoms such as stomach pain and gassy cramps - helping your horse to experience gastrointestinal calm. Presented in a convenient dissolvable granule form, the tiny granules are easy to administer (even to animals that will not swallow tablets) and are simply sprinkled on the back of the tongue and left to dissolve.

Ingredients

  • Chamomilla (6C) is frequently used to address infantile colic. It is gentle and soothing and helps to ease stomach pain and discomfort while supporting easy digestion.
  • Aconitum nap (6C) is used to calm gastro-intestinal disturbances when symptoms arise suddenly and tend to subside quickly with treatment.
  • Belladonna (6C) is often used for cramping of the stomach, this remedy is useful when addressing spasmodic cramps during digestive disturbance.
  • Colocynth (6C) This has been used since ancient times for colicky pains and digestive problems.
  • Nux vom (6C) 17th-century physicians discovered the stimulating effects of this homeopathic remedy on the digestive and nervous system.
  • Sucrose (inactive ingredient)

All products are free of gluten, artificial flavors, colorants and preservatives, and are suitable for use by lacto vegetarians. In accordance with our Do No Harm policy, no animal testing is carried out whatsoever.

Usage

Dosage: Sprinkle one capful of granules directly into the mouth when needed. May be repeated every 15-30 minutes for up to ten doses if necessary.

Caution: Colic can be a very serious condition that requires veterinarian care at the first sign or appearance of symptoms. No adverse interactions have been noted between the ingredients in EQuine Horse Calm and prescription medications. However, as with any medicine, it is always advisable to consult your vet. Consult your vet if symptoms persist or worsen.

Because EQuine Colic Calm is 100% homeopathic, it gets to work quickly after just the first dose to help facilitate easy digestion, address cramping and colicky stomach pains. While some horses begin to show an almost immediate improvement, others will begin to see results after 3-5 days. One bottle of EQuine Colic Calm (200g) will last for approximately 30 days, depending on the frequency of use.
